Silane coupling agents hydrolyze when in contact with water, and sufficient care is required in the treatment and use of silane coupling agents, because usually the water of silane coupling agents is accompanied by the formation of hydrogen chloride, methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, and other hydrolyzed products.
1. Silane coupling agent must be kept as far away from fire and moisture as possible, and not left in an open condition.
2. The workshop where silane coupling agent is handled should be well ventilated to avoid inhalation of steam.
3. When using silane coupling agent, use protective gloves and glasses to protect skin and eyes. In case of contact, rinse immediately with tap water and seek medical advice.
4. Workers are advised to wash their hands thoroughly after handling silane coupling agents, especially before eating, drinking or smoking.
5. The separation of silane coupling agent needs to be washed with a large amount of water, or absorbed with a cloth or sand and then burned. 6. The smell of chlorosilane is particularly unpleasant and can be a warning sign even at very low concentrations. Chlorosilane is inflammable, and when the chlorosilane coupling agent decomposes, it generates corrosive hydrogen chloride gas in contact with moisture in the atmosphere. In addition, it can be very irritating to the skin, so a lot of care is necessary when dealing with it.
