From quantity to quality, the rise of functional silanes in China -- the early stage

Early stages (1955 ~ 1985) Alkyl and organosilanes developed very slowly in the early stages.
Initially methyl, vinyl, and amino silanes, followed by epoxies, isobutenoyl, and sulfhydryl.
The most common of the alkoxy groups is methoxy, and the aminosilane provides the ethoxy group.
In these products, the main proportion is trialkyl silane.
Applications of silane at this stage include adhesives as glass fibers and mineral fillers.
These silane-treated materials are added to plastics or resins to enhance the properties of synthetic materials.
Most technology development and practice is focused on fiberglass materials.
Silane coupling agent was first developed around 1945 by UC and Dow Corning and other companies, originally used in the surface treatment of glass fiber.
In 1958, China's first FRP yacht was developed by Shanghai Yaohua Glass Works. In the late 1950s, with the development of glass steel works, the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences began to synthesize silane coupling agent.
