The room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber is a silicone rubber which is characterized by a condensation reaction between a silicon hydroxy group and other active materials, and can be crosslinked into an elastomer at room temperature. Room temperature vulcanized vulcanized silicone rubber can be used for a long time in the temperature range of (–60-+200 °C). It has excellent electrical insulation properties and chemical stability. It is resistant to water, ozone and weathering. It is suitable for various metal and non-metal materials. It has good adhesion and can also be used as surface treatment and structural filling.


At present, the world's main room temperature silicone rubber manufacturers are Dow Corning, American Momentive, German Wacker and Japan Shin-Etsu. These companies mainly occupy the mid-to-high-end market in China. China's local production enterprises are mainly concentrated in Guangdong and Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, and there are more than a dozen manufacturers with a production scale of 20,000 tons/year.


2016 China's room temperature silicone rubber production status


In 2016, there were about 50 room temperature silicone rubber production enterprises in China, with a production capacity of 1.092 million tons/year and a production of about 607,900 tons. China's main 107 glue and RTV manufacturers are shown in Table 1 and Table 2, respectively.

Analysis of China's room temperature silicone rubber import and export in 2016


In 2016, China exported about 7817 tons of RTV and exported 5,980 tons of 107 glue. Figure 1 shows the monthly export of China 107 glue and RTV from January to December 2016. In 2016, China's RTV exports are mainly for Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran, Taiwan and other countries and regions. In 2016, China's RTV exports are still concentrated in large enterprises and trading companies such as Dow Corning, Xin'an, Momentive, Hesheng and Bluestar. 107 rubber exports are mainly concentrated in large organic silicon enterprises such as Shandong Dongyue, Jiangxi Lanxing, Wacker and Zhejiang Hengyecheng.

In 2016, China imported about 5,944 tons of RTV, and imported 107 glues of about 3,427 tons. The monthly imports of China's 107 rubber and RTV from January to December 2016 are shown in Figure 2. In 2016, China imported RTV mainly from Hong Kong, the United States, Taiwan, Japan, France, South Korea and other countries and regions. In 2016, China's imports of RTV companies were mainly concentrated in Dow Corning, Shin-Etsu, Chewang Electronics and other enterprises; while imported 107 glue is mainly concentrated in Moto, Dongguan Baoshun, Hengtong Rubber, Dow Corning and other room temperature silicone rubber production enterprises.

In 2016, China's RTV consumption reached 606,000 tons. The proportion of room temperature silicone rubber in various fields in 2016 is shown in Figure 3.

 2016 supply and demand balance and medium and long-term market forecast


In 2016, China's room temperature silicone rubber production maintained steady growth. It is expected that the production of room temperature silicone rubber in China will reach 638,000 tons in 2017, and the demand will reach 634,400 tons. By 2021, the demand for room temperature silicone rubber in China is expected to be 867,000 tons, and the apparent consumption growth rate in 2016-2021 is about 8.2%. The supply and demand situation and product self-sufficiency analysis and forecast of room temperature rubber in 2012-2016 are shown in Figure 4.
