China's silicone technology development started in 1952. In order to support the development of the military industry, China has organized specialized research institutions to tackle the problem of silicone technology. At that time, the Beijing Chemical Industry Research Institute of the Ministry of Heavy Industry (predecessor of Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry) focused on the development of organo-chlorosilane technology by Grignard, and the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (predecessor of the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences) focused on the balance and polymerization of siloxane. In 1956, Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry built a silicone intermediate experiment workshop, and carried out a direct method of stirring bed synthesis of methylchlorosilane and Grignard method to synthesize phenylchlorosilane test, and used for trial production of high temperature resistant silicone resin. Soon, the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry have successively developed silicone oil and silicone rubber. In 1958, Shanghai Resin Factory built a direct synthesis of organochlorosilane production equipment, and successively produced silicone resin, silicone oil and silicone rubber. After 1960, silicone research units and manufacturers developed rapidly. Especially since the reform and opening up, China has invested a lot of manpower and material resources in organic silicon research and new product development. In terms of new monomer and polymer development, Gradually met the development needs of various sectors of the national economy. The characteristics of this stage are mainly focused on experimental and engineering research, and the production scale has reached 100 tons.
