China's organic silicon industry started in the early 1950s. After several generations of efforts, China has established an industrial chain with coordinated development of the upper, middle and lower reaches of organic silicon. From 1958, it produced the first organic silicon single. The body has spent nearly 40 years from 100 tons to 1,000 tons to 10,000 tons. Relying on self-reliance and independent research and development, China has broken the foreign technology blockade and monopoly, laid the foundation of the organic silicon industry, and achieved a leap from nothing. In particular, after the rapid development of the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” and the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, remarkable achievements have been made both in scale and in technology. Out of a road of technological innovation and development with Chinese characteristics, it can be called a model of independent innovation in the chemical industry. China has built everything from basic raw materials, silicone monomers and intermediates to various end products, from silicone teaching, scientific research, engineering development and design to processing aids, special equipment, analytical testing, automatic control, warehousing and logistics. The overall output and consumption of organic silicon monomer in China has increased year by year, and the self-sufficiency rate has been continuously improved. From 1985 to 2017, China's organic silicon monomer production grew at an average annual rate of 21.6%; consumption increased at an average annual rate of 17.8%. In 2014, China's organic silicon ended its long-term dependence on imports and became the net exporter of primary form silicones for the first time. The equivalent of the import and export volume (silicone) of silicone monomers in China over the years is shown in the following figure:

The development history of organic silicon monomer production can be roughly divided into six stages, namely, the initial development stage, the consolidation development stage, the rapid development stage, the peak development stage, the structural adjustment stage and the optimization and upgrading stage.
