1.2.1 Relationship between structure and properties of silicone resin
Organosilicone resin coating is made of pure organosilicone resin or modified organosilicone resin, so the structure of organosilicone resin determines the basic properties of organosilicone resin coating.
The Si-O bond has a high bond energy (422.5kJ/ Mo1) and is embedded with substituents R in the resin in a network form. The shielding effect of substituent R makes the host chain not easy to be attacked by impurities, and the formation of network structure of SiO also improves the activation energy of the main chain break. Therefore, the thermal stability of silicone resin is very excellent, and it can be used continuously at 180~200℃.
The Si-O bond has A long bond length (1.64A) and A large Si-O-Si bond Angle (143°), which makes it easy to rotate between Si. The molecular chain is generally helical structure, very soft, and the interaction force between them is very weak, so the surface energy of silicone resin is very low.
The electronegativity of Si element in Si-O bond (1.8) and the electronegativity between the elements (3.5) difference is very large,Si atom is easy to be polarized to form Si positive ion (Si-O),Si positive ion can stabilize its connected hydrocarbon group, so the silicone resin is not easy to oxidize.
The dissociation energy of si-o bond (460.5kJ/mo1) is higher than that produced by near ultraviolet light (300~400kJ/mo1), and it is difficult for ultraviolet light to produce free radicals, so the silicone resin has strong weather resistance.
