It's a silicone elastomer, which by its name sounds like regular silicone oil (polydimethylsiloxane), but it's second only to silicone for breast augmentation in crosslinking. Things like silicone are so malleable that they can be made into either a low-viscosity, volatile liquid like silicone oil or a flexible solid like silicone resin, and the more cross-linked it is, the stronger it will be. To put it simply, silicone elastomers come together like a "translucent, elastic plasticine" that can be dispersed and suspended in an emulsion. When the water evaporates, the silicone elastomers gather together again to form a film, the film is very different from the general oil film, it has no sense of grease nor greasy, there will be a sense of velvet touch, it also looks matte, can effectively scatter light, play the effect of filling soft wrinkles. What's more, silicone elastomer membranes are flexible enough to stretch and compress in response to facial expressions, rather than snap with a good laugh or frown. Because of these characteristics, silicone elastomers in the high-grade eye cream position is almost irreplaceable.
