Silicone resin and its flame retardant overview
Silicone resin is a kind of typical inorganic - organic hybrid polymer material with Si-O-Si structure as the main chain and side groups (such as methyl, phenyl, vinyl and hydroxyl, etc.) bonded with silicon atoms. The Si-O bond energy in the inorganic Si-O-Si structure is as high as 460kJ/mol, so it has good high temperature resistance. The silicone resin has good elasticity and toughness by adjusting the number of difunctional (D) links in the main chain of silicone polymerization. In addition to high temperature resistance, elasticity and toughness, silicone also has excellent electrical insulation, weather resistance, water resistance and wear resistance. Based on these excellent properties, silicone has been widely used in machinery manufacturing, aerospace and electrical and electronic manufacturing industries. Silicone resin is a kind of new, halogen-free, drip-proof and efficient environment-friendly flame retardant. As a flame retardant, silicone resin can not only be directly added into the polymer material to improve its flame retardant performance, but also form flame retardant coating on the surface of the molded polymer material by dip-coating or spraying to improve the flame retardant performance of the polymer material. Silicone resin as a flame retardant in polymer materials can not only give it good flame retardant properties, but also improve the mechanical properties of polymer materials, improve its processing properties.
