Silicone has good adhesion to metals such as iron, aluminum and tin, and is also easy to adhesive glass and ceramics. Pretreatment of these materials is generally not required. However, if the surface of the substrate is cleaned mechanically, such as sandblasting, the adhesion of silicone resin to metals, especially iron, can be improved.
The adhesion of silicone resin to copper is poor, especially at high temperature aging, the oxide film on the surface of copper has obvious catalytic degradation of silicone resin. People tried to improve it by surface treatment of copper. But it didn't work well.
Silicone resin adhesive is mainly used for adhesive metal and heat-resistant non-metallic materials, adhesive parts can be used in the temperature range of -60-+1200℃, and fuel oil and grease resistance, with good fatigue strength. In this kind of adhesive, in addition to the use of pure silicone resin, also often use organic resin (such as epoxy, polyester, phenolic, etc.) copolymerization and rubber modified silicone adhesive, in order to obtain better room temperature bonding strength.
