Room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone sealants used for filling are widely used in automotive fluid sealants due to their ability to withstand high temperatures in various conditions. Silicone is the only elastomer that can maintain good flexibility under freezing conditions of -45 ° C, so it is also used in the refrigeration industry. This capability also allows silicones to be used in aerospace applications. As the only elastomer that remains flexible at low temperatures, the silicone on lunar boots worn by astronauts was the first substance to come in contact with the moon in 1969.
