Compared with silicone rubber and silicone oil, silicone resin is a small amount of silicone products, accounting for about 10% of silicone products. The global production of silicone resin is about 90,000 tons. The United States is the largest producer, about 40,000 tons. Except for the domestic consumption of 7,000 tons per year, the rest are all exported. Production in Japan and Western Europe is basically the same, both around 20,000 tons, and most of them are used by themselves. It is estimated that in 2005, the global consumption of silicone resin is expected to reach 100,000 tons.
At present, there are nearly 20 existing silicone resin production plants in China, and nearly 10 of them are professional paint or insulation materials factories. The main products are insulating impregnating varnish, heat-resistant coating, waterproof coating, mica adhesive, etc. based on methyl or phenyl resin. Among them, the production scale of large-scale silicone devices is 1,000 tons, and the production scale of small-sized silicone devices is 100 tons.
Compared with other silicone materials, silicone resin has been relatively stable in the domestic market for a long time. At present, the annual consumption of silicone resin in China is about 8,000 tons, which is mainly used in the electronic/electrical field. In recent years, China's high-end building exterior wall coatings market has started, among which silicone-modified acrylic coatings (silicone-acrylic coatings) are important varieties. With the rapid development of high-rise building exterior wall coatings in China, the consumption of silicone resin in the construction field will increase rapidly, and will gradually replace electronic/electrical appliances, becoming the main application field of silicone resin. It is estimated that the domestic consumption of silicone resin will reach 15,000 tons in 2015.
