The application technology of silicone in coatings (including inks) has developed from professional, high-performance coatings to a wider range of fields. The application of silicone technology can improve the insulation, heat resistance, weather resistance, antifouling, wear resistance and other properties of coatings. Insulating materials
The first application technology of silicone resin as a coating is silicone resin-impregnated glass fiber cloth tape, which is used as the insulation protective layer of wires on US Navy submarines. my country developed silicone resin in the 1950s. In the initial stage, it was mainly used for insulation impregnation of H-class motor coils, impregnation of glass fiber cloth for H-class motor wire and slot insulation, impregnation of glass fiber insulation sleeves, mica tape for insulation, etc.
Therefore, pure silicone resin as an insulating coating is the oldest silicone product. Pure silicone resin produced by the old process has advantages that other general organic resins cannot match, such as high temperature resistance, weather resistance, and good insulation, but it also has disadvantages such as high curing temperature, long curing time, poor adhesion, and re-adhesion at high temperature.
Therefore, in order to adapt to the needs of the situation, silicone coatings must develop in the direction of new processes, new technologies, new varieties and new uses. Through the reform of silicone resin production process and new technologies such as cold blending or copolymerization modification with organic resin and silicone resin, the three defects of silicone resin have been greatly improved, and the application field of silicone coatings has been expanded.

Primer
The bonding force between the coating and the substrate includes mechanical bonding force, chemical bonding force, diffusion force and dipole force. The size of the bonding force directly affects the adhesion of the coating.
The main methods to improve the adhesion between the coating and the substrate are: grinding the substrate, sandblasting, reducing the construction viscosity of the coating, increasing the construction temperature, improving the wettability of the substrate (using solvent wiping, corona, flame burning, oxidant treatment, etc.), related to silicone is the use of adhesion promoters, that is, the use of primers, and the silicone materials used for primers are mainly silanes. Alkoxysilane can improve the adhesion, fluidity, leveling, wear resistance, dispersion of pigments and fillers, water resistance and salt spray resistance of coatings and substrates, and has been widely used in primer formulations for various metals and silicon-containing materials.
* Adhesion promoter
Alkoxysilane (mainly various silane coupling agents) as adhesion promoters must be used at the interface between the coating and the substrate or the interface between the sealant and the adhesive material to increase viscosity. The use of adhesion promoters as primers is usually to prepare silane into a 0.5% to 5% ethanol or alcohol-water dilution, and then apply or spray it to the surface of the substrate. In addition to increasing viscosity, the use of silane primers can also improve hydrophobicity, UV resistance, weather resistance, thermal stability, surface activity, chemical resistance and corrosion resistance. The selection of adhesion promoters must match the organic molecules in the coating.
Rust-resistant primer
A rust-resistant coating has been developed in China for use as a metal primer. When the rust removal of the metal surface is not thorough, the paint can be directly applied to the metal surface with good adhesion. The paint also has a stabilizing, transforming and physically encapsulating effect on rust, turning harmful rust into useful substances, thereby improving the corrosion resistance of the entire coating. It is made of alkyd resin as a film-forming substance, adding anti-rust pigments and other additives. The addition of silane coupling agent can greatly improve the various indicators of the primer, especially hiding power, drying time, salt water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, etc.
