The AR 240v5 V5 prototype was first flown on September 11, 1941. The radio call sign of the aircraft (WNR. 240005) is GL + QA (?), which is manufactured by aktien Gesellschaft Otto flugzeugwerke GmbH (ago) located in oschersleben. The V5 is equipped with two db601e engines with a rated power of 1175 horsepower, similar to V3, and the V5 also replaces the original dive speed reducer with a tail cone. The airborne weapon consists of two mg17 machine guns at the wing root of main wing and two mg81z remote control turrets arranged at the ridge and belly respectively. These turrets are controlled by fa-13 with improved performance. The latter has been tested on a bf110c-1 (Ba + CP). The test flight plan for the V5 in richlin was cancelled and replaced by a performance demonstration flight for the BAL in Brandenburg. According to the surviving archives, both V1-V6 appeared to be replaced with db603e between February and May 1941. The test flight of AR 240v5 was carried out at least until February 1942. On March 25, 1942, V5 flew to the airport of oranienburg, which was then transferred to the German Air Force commander-in-chief reconnaissance Brigade (aufklaerungsgruppe oberbehlshaber der Luftwaffe). The German plans to test fly the modified V5 on October 15, 1942 (it is not clear whether this plan has been extended). After the modification and acceptance test, the V5 is finally transferred to the high altitude flight research station.
