1. Silicone Introduction
Silicone resin is a semi-inorganic and semi-organic polymer whose main chain is composed of -Si-O- and has side chains of organic groups. Because it has a variety of active groups, it can undergo further cross-linking reactions, and finally forms a solidified product with a three-dimensional structure that is insoluble and infusible. The product has many excellent properties, such as high and low temperature resistance, weather aging resistance, water and moisture resistance, high dielectric strength, low dielectric loss, arc resistance, radiation resistance, etc. General-purpose solution-type silicone resins are mainly used as base polymers for heat-resistant coatings, weather-resistant coatings and high-temperature-resistant electrical insulation materials

2. Technological progress
There are many different types of silicone products, and silicone resin is one of the earliest to be manufactured and used. About 20 years ago, technological advances in aromatic heterocyclic high-temperature polymers led to the partial replacement of silicone resins. However, the solvent toxicity and complex curing conditions of these polymers limit their extended applications. Therefore, research and development of silicone resins have been refocused in recent years. Compared with other polymers, silicone resins have many outstanding advantages, such as wide temperature range, aging resistance and good moisture resistance.

3. Classification of characteristics
Resins can be divided into two broad categories: thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins. Thermoplastic resins have the unique property that they can be dissolved in a solvent and become a liquid state after being heated, and can also undergo multiple dissolution and solidification processes at the same time. Heat-curing resins, on the other hand, have higher-end properties and are able to form a permanent entity after being heated, which is irreversible and will not dissolve and melt again.
