In particular, methyl silicone and MQ silicone with pressure-sensitive glue are the majority of such projects. Therefore, it is expected that in the next five years, the depth of China's silicone industry under such a trend is expected to continue to improve. In addition, due to the growth of environmental awareness in various countries, solvent-free silicone, solid silicone and other types will be the focus of development in the future.


In 2021, although the epidemic is still raging around the world, thanks to the loose monetary and fiscal policies of various countries, as well as the low base effect in 2020, the overall economic recovery of the United States, Europe, Japan and other major silicone consumers is obvious. In 2021, China's silicone resin imports and exports will also see rapid growth, up 7.9% and 51.9% respectively. The annual net import was about 1,512 tons, down 17.5% year on year.
In 2022, with the gradual release of China's new silicone capacity, China's silicone exports are expected to continue to rise, while imports are expected to be flat or slightly up. China is expected to shift from a net importer to a net exporter of silicone in the next 5-6 years as its self-sufficiency rate increases.
Last year, silicones in China were mostly produced by small and medium-sized enterprises, which are facing further integration problems due to their small scale and weak technology research and development capabilities compared with mature silicone products such as silicone and silicone oil. At present, the silicone industry market is still developing to fill the gap and demand for high-end silicone market. In 2022, China's silicone project investment shows a trend of rapid growth. With the gradual expansion of China's silicone industry, multinational enterprises and local leading enterprises are also laying out China's silicone production capacity. China's silicone scale development has gradually equipped with basic conditions and broad space for development.
