Resin transfer molding technology is first applied to structural parts of large aircraft

Airbus has begun to produce resin transfer molded spoilers for a320neo series aircraft, which is the first time that the process has been applied to large aircraft structural components.
Resin transfer molding involves fixing the dry fiber in the mold before resin injection, which can produce consistent and accurate products with an error of less than 1% mm. One of prestick's Scottish plants involved in the project, together with baenery aerospace systems, has produced the first approved integrated spoiler through a resin transfer molding process.
Conventional production methods usually use prepreg and autoclave, but Airbus considers this method "expensive and time-consuming".
Airbus said the spoiler, originally designed for the a320neo, would be certified in the next few weeks and tested at the wing factory in Broughton, UK. (source: Aviation Industry Information Center)
