High performance silicone resin

Hits: 827 img

A silicone resin is a synthetic compound containing silicon and oxygen as well as other organic groups. Among them, silicon has a fundamental impact on product performance. In a typical organic carbon compound, the main chain is carbon-carbon connected; in the silicone resin, the main chain is a silicon-oxygen-silicon-oxygen such as silicon-oxygen atoms alternately arranged. This complex molecular structure makes silicone resins particularly resistant to high and low temperatures, wind erosion, oxidation and water resistance, good electrical and dielectric properties, outstanding resistance to arcing and electrical breakdown, and good thermal conductivity. The application of silicone resin has been extensive.
Silicone resins maintain excellent electrical insulation at 500°F, making them ideal for radomes and engines. Since silicone resins do not emit toxic gases at high temperatures, they are particularly suitable for missiles and aviation with high temperature requirements. This silicone resin has a significant disadvantage in that the silicone laminate material has mechanical properties at room temperature that are inferior to those of the organic resin layered material. However, at 400 ~ 500 °F, the mechanical strength of many organic resin layered materials has been significantly reduced, while the silicone layered materials can work for a long time. Another disadvantage of silicone resins is the higher cost than phenolic resins.
