Amphoteric softeners are developed to improve cationic softeners. Its affinity for synthetic fiber is strong, no yellowing and dye discoloration and other ills. It can also be used in the rescouring process of silk to make silk feel better. Amphoteric softeners can also be used together with cationic softeners for synergistic effect. Such softeners are generally alkyl amidolactones.
