Phosphating technology has a history of 100 years since Thomas Wattscoslett of Birmingham, United States, pioneered it in 1906. Over the past hundred years, phosphating technology has been developing continuously, from the 1930's zinc phosphating technology and iron phosphating technology to the 60-70's improved zinc phosphating technology, then to the early 90's nickel free phosphating technology, and finally to the 2002 iron oxide phosphating technology. With the continuous development and innovation of phosphating technology, its application field is more and more wide. However, this traditional pretreatment process has many defects, such as high energy consumption, high content of heavy metal ions, carcinogens, and excessive discharge of waste water and residue.
With the increasing voice of environmental protection and energy saving, in order to carry out the standard of cleaner production and develop more environmentally friendly technology and products, in recent years some new phosphating technology has been developed and applied. Pretreatment technology is developing in the direction of protecting environment, reducing cost, improving quality and easy operation.
