Nanoparticles modified silicone resin
Nanoscale filler particles are dispersed in the chain segment of silicone polymer through a high-speed mixer [33], which can improve the compatibility with silicone resin and the antifouling performance of the coating [34]. Among them, nano silica is the most widely used, because it has similar molecular structure with organosilicate materials (main chain contains Si-O-Si bond) [35], so Xuan Bo et al. [36] synthesized organosilicate modified acrylic resin through free radical polymerization reaction, and further added nano SiO2 and nano TiO2 into organosilicate modified acrylic resin. By FT-IR analysis, the silica modified acrylic resin contains SiO, Si-C and other characteristic peaks, which indicates that it has successfully participated in the reaction. By analyzing the contact Angle of the film, when the ratio of nano-SiO2 to nano-TiO2 is 1∶1 and the content of nano-TiO2 is 16%, the contact Angle reaches the maximum of 149°, which indicates that the composite film has good hydrophobicity. As for the mechanical properties of the film, the introduction of nanoparticles makes the film hardness up to 6H. Salt spray test shows that the paint film containing nano particles has excellent corrosion resistance. Qi Kaiyue et al. [37] synthesized organosilicone modified acrylic resin using vinyl trimethoxy silane and acrylic monomers as raw materials, and added nano silica to organosilicone modified acrylic resin. Also through FTIR analysis, the double bond of the acrylate was opened and successfully grafted to the main chain of the silicone resin. In this paper, the influence of nano-SiO2 on the properties of composite resin system was investigated: the increase of nano-SiO2 can increase the contact Angle of the film, improve the water resistance of the film, but the high silicon content reduces the performance of the film, the possible reason is the agglomeration of nanoparticles. When the content of epoxy resin increased, the adhesion of the composite resin increased, and the hardness increased to 6H, but the increase of epoxy resin made the water resistance of the film decreased.
